Frequently asked question about Brick Slip Installtion
  • How much does it cost to install Brick Slips?

How much does it cost to install Brick Slips?

The cost to install brick slips in the UK can vary depending on several factors including the size of the area, the type of brick slips selected, the substrate they are being fixed to, and the complexity of the installation. On average, clients can expect to pay between £50 to £100 per square meter for a standard bonded brick slip installation, up to £150m2 for some of the more intricate rail based brick cladding systems.

  • What is the best method of installing brick slips?

Their are several different methods of installing brick slips, with several brick cladding systems available on the market designed for different scenarios and specifications. The three major factors to consider which method of installing brick slips is the most effective for your projects, is the height of the brick slip installation – ( several brick cladding systems are suitable up to a specific height, but will not meet current building regulations above this), the Fire rating requirement from your local authority (commercial buildings have to meet a much stricter fire rating than a single storey domestic extension), the cost of the total system installation ( Brick slips can vary in price depending on the quality of the brick slip,  generally higher quality brick slips are cut from genuine clay bricks, this gives the true appearance of a brick finish, alternatives are also available that are purpose made brick slips designed to replicate the aesthetics of bricks but at a reduced cost and weight, there are several other brick slip types available on the market including acrylic and plaster brick slips, these are generally of lower quality and consistency to real clay brick slips). It is common for brick slip installers to require the type of brick slip in order to give you an accurate quotation, as commonly cheaper brick slips are far more time consuming to install due to their poor tolerances than a genuine clay brick slips.

  • Does Brick Slip installation costs vary depending on which cladding system is used?

The short answer to this question is yes, prices can vary dramatically depending on the type of brick cladding system that is used, generally speaking the cheapest cladding type to be installed is a brick slip tracking panel system, as the installation of the cladding panels is straight forward and once installed the actual brick slip installation is generally 3-4 times quicker than some of the more complex brick slip systems. The most expensive brick slip systems to install are generally metal based rail system which rely on accurate installation of supporting brackets for the rails to be fixed to, these type of systems  also require additional cuts or grooves being manufactured in the brick slip themselves so they have a mechanical fix. These systems whilst more expensive generally do not have any height restrictions of where they can be installed.

  • What adhesive is used for brick slip installation?

If your project is using a bonded system, we would always recommend our Slip-Fix brick slip adhesive for use on our products and any other clay brick slip.  Slip-fix adhesive is designed to be used on Internal and External brick slip installations, it is fast curing to improve installation speed and is fully frost resistant.
