This project is the largest single building we have undertaken to date, with a total of over 1,000,000 Brick slips and 230,000 Cut and Bonds.
We worked closely with both Henry Construction and F P Mccann to supply both the traditional built elements and also pre-cast elements to the very specific schedules of both parties.
The architect on this project opted for a random bond pattern for the entire build, which consisted of 126 different brick slip lengths which needed fabricating, alongside the 24 different lengths of pistols to achieve the desired effect.
A very complex project with demanding schedules that required several thousand cut and bonds every week alongside full loads of brick slips cut to different lengths and organised into specific levels and elevations to keep both elements of the brickwork and brick slip packages running smoothly meant we had to operate a full 7 day production schedule for the duration of the project. This allowed the client the confidence of the quality and consistency of the supply without the need to split the order down and use multiple different brick Cutting companies.
Ghelamco’s first project in the UK, The Arc, is a mixed-use scheme, located in Shoreditch, central London, in the heart of Tech City – also known as the Silicon Roundabout. Situated on City Road, the development is surrounded by a cluster of media and technology companies and is just minutes’ walk from Old Street station. The Arc offers a collection of 100 studio, one, two and three bed residences on City Road. Award winning architects AHMM have designed a unique 22-storey tower, which rises from a red brick podium building, echoing the industrial spirit of its East London location.
In November 2021 The Arc won four awards at the International Property Awards; Best Residential High-Rise Development (London), Best Residential High-Rise Development (UK), Office Development for the United Kingdom and Mixed-Use Development for the United Kingdom; reflecting the quality and attention to detail of this exciting new project.
